Blackwood is a long established not-for-profit organisation providing affordable, accessible homes and care and support services across Scotland. It is an innovative organisation that focuses on supporting people with disabilities and age related conditions, and on designing services with them, to help them live their life to the full.
The organisation has had notable success in building its first homes for over ten years, with the Blackwood House in Dundee demonstrating an exciting new standard of accessible living with integrated technology. Care services have also been developed, particularly with a significant increase in delivering care to people in their own homes. However there are challenges to overcome in the next few years to ensure Blackwood’s growth is sustainable across Scotland.
Blackwood is now looking to recruit new Board members who will either help to succession plan for some existing members who will step down over the next 18 months, or build new expertise on the Board to support the future Strategic direction.
Board members bring expertise to help build on the organisation’s successes, overcome the challenges, and continue the level of ambition, to secure Blackwood’s contribution beyond 2020, to help people live independently. More broadly, Blackwood requires Board members who have good senior executive, or non-executive, experience of delivering business growth through innovation and customer focus. All Board members will also share and promote Blackwood’s key values.
The particular skills and experience desired from prospective new Board members are:
· Development, Construction or Regeneration,
· Human Resources/Organisational Development leadership experience
· Strategic Planning and/or Change Management skills and experience
· Housing, or Health and Social Care Policy experience
