Overview

“ Brilliant skills to develop brilliant minds…”

With the aim to support excellent teaching of science in every primary classroom across the UK, the Primary Science Teaching Trust (PSTT) is a unique charitable trust. Established in 1997, PSTT is regarded as a major voice in the area of Primary School Science Teaching.

PSTT is now at an exciting and crucial stage in its journey and the Trustee Body is seeking a successor to the current Chair who retires in mid-2019. The new Chair will provide leadership to the charity and its Board, guide the Management in execution of the strategic plan as well as driving the next stage of development. They will also act as an ambassador and the public face of PSTT in partnership with the Chief Executive.

The strategy of the PSTT has three key pillars; a virtual College for elected fellows all of whom are recognised as leaders in their field; supporting groups of schools working together through the Cluster Programme; and supporting research and innovation through our Academic Collaborators. The PSTT has also developed a Trading arm to help ensure a long term legacy for the Trust work after a substantial endowment.

In addition to senior level strategic leadership, the successful appointee will demonstrate a keen interest in the education sector and the current issues affecting it. Crucially, the new Chair will bring their own experience, regardless of background, to delivering the Trust’s purpose while opening up new collaborative opportunities to support the charity in its growth phase.

PSTT embraces diversity and we welcome application from all individuals, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, background, religion, disability, sexual orientation, marital status or gender identity.
