Roles: Chair of Trustees & Trustees
Remuneration: Unpaid with reasonable expenses
Term of office: A maximum of two consecutive terms of office of four years. The position of Chair renewed every two years.
With support and direction from the Department for Education and the Regional Schools Commissioner the Alpha Academies Trust recognises the need for a revised governance arrangement which coincides with the retirement of our Chair and to support our continued growth. It is of great importance to us that our decision-making processes are transparent and fit for purpose and at present we rely too heavily on the good will of a range of Members, Trustees and Local Governing Body Members to provide the non-executive leadership and challenge at various levels throughout our organisation.
For the role of Trustee, we seek exceptional candidates with career backgrounds and senior level experience from industries and sectors including:
Finance – a qualified accountant likely to take the Chair of the Finance & Operations Committee
Legal services– a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal consultant
Education – a specialist in secondary education and ideally a National Leader of Education
Estates – experience in estate management and/or capital projects
Business – experience of leadership within large and complex business
The Chair will share our passion for working with young people and recognise the impact a great education has on transforming the life chances and social mobility of young people living in disadvantaged communities. This role requires an experienced non-executive with high levels of energy and enthusiasm for leading a committed and dedicated team of trustees.
