Hertsmere Leisure are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee currently managing leisure facilities in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council and Milton Keynes Council. It is also currently the Lead Agency for nineteen Sure Start Children’s Centres in Hertfordshire, increasing to 38 centres in October. Its turnover is now in the region of £18 million and employs almost 1000 staff.

The organisation has operated successfully for over 15 years and the current Board are looking to recruit someone who has skills to complement those already available and provide strategic direction and support for the management team. This will involve attending Board meetings (around 6 per year), with the potential to be a member of the Board’s sub committees as well as being able to offer advice and support to an enthusiastic management team.

These are unpaid positions other than reimbursement of reasonable expenses, however it offers a rewarding experience with involvement within an innovative community and commercially aware organisation. Hertsmere Leisure are striving to be the best provider of leisure and children’s centres in the locality and to positively enhance the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves.
