We have a vacancy on our Finance, Audit and Risk Sub Committee.
The Finance, Audit and Risk Sub Committee is a formally-established sub-committee of the Boards of Amnesty UK Section and Amnesty UK Charitable Trust. The Sub Committee exercises a key governance role, helping ensure that significant risks to the organisations are identified and managed, and that appropriate assurance is provided to the Boards. This includes overseeing the work of the newly-formed Internal Audit function, as well as overseeing the external audit process. Current Terms of Reference of the Sub Committee , which set out in detail its remit and reporting responsibilities, are attached below.
The successful applicant for this role will have had substantial experience at a senior level within a large and complex organisation, probably at Chief Executive or senior director level. They will have an awareness of the regulatory and economic environment within which Amnesty UK operates, and a good understanding of how large organisations function, and of the key elements of governance that should be in place. Candidates are welcome from across all sectors – commercial, government, local government and health, as well as the charity sector.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about what Amnesty UK does, comfortable working in a collegiate style, who is keen to make a contribution but also to learn and grow.
There is a time commitment of around 8-10 days per year, mainly comprising attendance at four meetings per year, and associated preparatory work. Meetings are held on work-day evenings at the Amnesty UK offices in Shoreditch. The position is a voluntary one. Out of pocket expenses will be paid in accordance with Amnesty UK’s expenses policy.
