Overview

Health and Social Care Commissioners and Providers across Warrington are committed to our joint vision:
We want to make people’s lives better. Helping people to live longer, healthier lives, supported by sustainable services, wrapped around individuals – not buildings or organisations.
In a time of unprecedented financial pressure we believe that sustainability for our health and care services lies in us working together. We are developing a single structure to move from a hospital based system of unplanned care to a more preventative, anticipatory approach to people’s care, health management and treatment.
The 2016 Centre for Cities report ranks Warrington in its’ top ten locations best placed to drive national economic growth – the only location outside of the south of England to feature in the top ten. Despite its economic success, the borough also has a number of pockets of deprivation, particularly in and around its centre – and we have more to do to address this inequality and narrow the gap between our more affluent communities and our inner areas.
We are seeking a strong Independent Chair to bring leaders of our providers and commissioners together as a Board to develop an accountable care organisation (‘Well Warrington’); a model that will allow us to take responsibility for a large capitated budget and a broad group of local services.
We are seeking a strategic leader with a strong belief in the benefits to residents of closer integration of services.
Experience of living or working in Warrington is not a requirement; however you will bring insight into current health and care system challenges. You will bring robust, constructive challenge and the ability to quickly gain the respect of all stakeholders through a track record of facilitating strong and collaborative partnerships to improve outcomes for populations. This is a unique chance to help shape health and social care services in Warrington for this and the next generation.
