To direct, oversee and review, as and when required, High Performance policies relevant for Netball Scotland as a successfully growing Scottish Sports Governing Body. The appointee will be the Board’s adviser on all High Performance activities and will chair the High Performance Group on behalf of the Board. Our key performance outcome is to be ranked 8th in the world or better by 2019

The Opportunity:

The successful individual will gain expertise of supporting and advising a dynamic Board at a very exciting time of our development and continued growth. At Netball Scotland we work as a collaborative team and our culture is one of enthusiasm, respect, excellence and courage.  As a Board member, you will help to shape the future of netball as an integral part of Scottish sport, particularly in relation to our potential legacy opportunities arising from the Commonwealth Games and the Netball World Cup. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for sport and presents great potential for the development of new and existing skills, meeting new people and creating different networks whilst making a genuine difference for our sport of Netball.

This is a particularly exciting time for netball in Scotland. Our national team, the Scottish Thistles, have improved from 17th in the World to our current position of 10th. Whilst we are very proud of the progress of our Thistles, we have ambitions to continue to excel in the international arena and have a target of achieving top 8 by 2019.

We invest directly into our Scottish Thistles and our age group national teams and, in 2016, we successfully created the Sirens, our Scottish based Netball Superleague team which competes in the UK wide, Sky televised Vitality Netball Superleague. We have a mature partnership with the sportscotland institute of sport who provide incredibly valuable support and expertise to our coaches and players.  With the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in 2018, and the International Netball World Cup in 2019, we have significant opportunities to further succeed on the world stage.
