About Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and The Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) provides a wide range of inpatient and community-based mental health care to people living in Bolton, Salford, Trafford and the city of Manchester, in addition to specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the North West of England and beyond. The Trust employs around 5,000 members of staff and delivers services from more than 140 locations including five hospital sites, a variety of community facilities and in prisons.

Recognised nationally as a high performing provider, we have recently been rated as ‘Outstanding’ for leadership (well-led) by the Care Quality Commission. We acquired Manchester Mental Health and Social Care NHS Trust last year and are now focused on delivering our plan of investment to provide the same world-class, sustainable mental health care for people living in Manchester as for the other areas we serve. Working with partners across Greater Manchester through devolution, we are promoting parity of esteem for mental with physical health. We are shifting the focus to prevention, early intervention and resilience in communities, to deliver a sustainable and integrated mental health system across the region.

We are currently seeking to appoint one new Non-Executive Director to join our Board. If you are an experienced Board-level leader who offers challenge, support, innovation and passion we would love to hear from you. An understanding of robust corporate governance and an absolute commitment to our vision and values will also be essential. In return, this role will be challenging and rewarding, offering you the opportunity to shape future health and social care services for the people of Greater Manchester.

Please note this appointment is subject to the Fit and Proper Persons Test.
