We are working with a high technology business that have experienced rapid, sustainable growth since its inception less than a decade ago, in this time they have expanded and expect to exceed £100m turnover in the near future.

The business has been well served by its Independent Non-Executive Directors and now have a requirement for an additional Non-Executive Director, specifically with a background in strategic Human Resource Management (HRM) and experience of leading companies through significant business growth, organisational development and culture change.

The Role

This role will be appointed for a term of three and, at the end of this term may be re-appointed for a further term

Expected presence will include five board meetings per year plus additional days as required, it is anticipated that the Non-Executive Director would spend 18-24 days each year engaged on activities with the company.

The responsibilities of the Non-Executive Director are:

To act as an independent Board member;
To promote the business to Government and industry;
To provide advice to the Board on emerging trends in employee engagement, employer branding and HR strategy formulation;
To advise the Board, Chair and Chief Executive on matters pertaining to people strategy and the influence of external factors;
To help ensure good governance;
To chair one or more Committees of the Board.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have held HR roles at Board level in FTSE 250, public or technology/manufacturing organisations employing over 1,000 staff.

They will consider candidates that have worked only in HR; however it would be advantageous to have held other positions including those with general management or operational responsibility.

Educationally they expect a degree in a business related subject, ideally with an MBA and be a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD).

Applications must demonstrate at least ten years’ experience in a senior management position preferably with board level HR accountability, demonstrable commercial skills and business acumen and experience of working as a Non-Executive Director.

You will have a proven track record in leading a business or function with strong numeracy, communication and literacy skills combined with sound commercial and financial awareness and excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
