Non Executive Director -Treasury & Finance Focus
Your Housing Group
£9,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses – 3 days per month
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a new generation of housing provider. At Your Housing Group we’re seeking a new Board Member. Board level experience is not vital for this role. What matters most is expertise in treasury and finance, gained at a senior level.
Building quality homes for all kinds of people, we are playing a growing part in solving the UK housing crisis. As a Non Executive Director, you’ll be instrumental in setting our strategic direction. You will help to broaden perspectives and expand our horizons.
There’s a great deal that’s different about Your Housing Group. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to building and maintaining as many quality houses as possible – to serve all steps on the housing ladder, we have a large and diverse portfolio spanning the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands.
We help people to live independently. So offering choice is central to our approach. Our 25,000+ portfolio spans properties for social and affordable rent, retirement living developments, and innovative private rental offers under our Nuvu Living brand. Quality is key to all we do – both in design and build, and across the services we offer, from gardening to maintenance and beyond.
We’re not-for-profit, but our financial position is strong and secure. We are commercially savvy and dedicated to housing investment. Our annual turnover of £148million gives us a firm foundation on which to build and grow. Pioneering and creative people are at the heart of our success, delivering ambitious community regeneration and leading the way in digital services.
As a Non Executive Director, you will work closely with other Board Members to develop strategy and ensure compliance. We hope you agree that Your Housing Group is doing things differently. That’s why we want to make sure our Board represents all kinds of backgrounds and perspectives. Right now, we are particularly keen to hear from an experienced senior leader with expertise in treasury and finance. Ideally, you’ve gained this in financial services or at a large corporation.
We will expect you to bring a fresh viewpoint, and ideas which help us to buck trends and influence what a housing provider can do. You don’t need experience of the housing sector, or to have served on a board before. What matters is that you share our passion for what we do, and our entrepreneurial spirit. If you can commit around three days a month for Board meetings and to act as an ambassador, you can create a whole new strand to your professional legacy.
About Your Housing Group
Your Housing Group (YHG) is a new generation of housing provider. We work efficiently and effectively to build as many quality houses as possible. This is how we play our part in solving the national housing crisis. With more than 25,000 homes across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands, we have a large and diverse portfolio. These range from general properties for social and affordable rent, through to retirement living developments, and innovative private rental offers under our Nuvu Living brand.
Our fundamental aim is to build and deliver a range of homes, to help people to live independently and enable people to get on and off the property ladder at different stages of their lives. This clarity of focus has enabled us to act decisively against a background of political and economic instability. We have built a strong and stable financial position, able to withstand market fluctuations and wider economic conditions. This was reflected in the results of a recent in-depth assessment by our regulator, the HCA (now the Regulator of Social Housing), who assessed YHG as a G1 / V1 association.
With an annual turnover of £148m and a clear focus on housing investment, we remain confident of our commitment to build a minimum of 1,000 new homes a year. These will span the private rented, retirement living and affordable social housing sectors.
The Group has also built a leading reputation for community regeneration. This is evidenced by our recent, extensive work in the Anfield area of Liverpool. There, a YHG investment programme in excess of £30million delivered more than 200 new and refurbished homes. We have ambitious plans to repeat this success, with a large-scale investment to regenerate the Partington area of Manchester.
Our external environment is continually evolving, influenced by political direction and policy change. Recognising this, we are currently undergoing a significant period of transformational change - from the completion of a corporate restructure in 2017, to the launch of a digital platform for our customers.
We have a clear vision of the future. One which will see us remain as a market leader, creating homes for a diverse market, meeting market demands and moving into a more progressive digital space. We are working to be a leaner and more effective organisation, with a pioneering and creative workforce, operating in agile ways to provide quality homes and deliver a first class landlord service to customers.
