London – £10,000 per annum – two days per month
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) makes final decisions on complaints that have not been resolved by the NHS in England and UK government departments and some UK public organisations. Our vision is for everyone, whoever they are to be confident that complaining is straightforward, fair and can make a difference.
This is an exciting period for PHSO; we have a new leadership team and are building on our strengths to ensure our service provides consistency. This is not only in terms of how we do things so people have confidence in the decisions we make. We operate thorough and rigorous processes to reach sound, evidence-based judgments and we are committed to enabling and developing our people so that they can provide an excellent service.
We are looking for two new Non-Executive Board members to help guide the organisation through our radical transformation. Both roles require experience of operating at Board level and of contributing to the strategic and operational direction of an organisation. You will need to be able to demonstrate your ability to support and scrutinise, as well as having a track record in helping organisations to innovate, change and improve.
We are looking for individuals who have one or more than one of the following: Experience working with Parliament and Government to influence and shape legislation, policy and public services; Experience of policy and operations at a strategic level in the National Health Service; and Experience of leading staff through significant transformational change and/or information governance and infrastructure expertise.
