Overview

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is the professional membership body for Speech and Language Therapists, having over 17,000 members, with a head office in London and satellite offices in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The RCSLT is seeking a non-Speech and Language Therapist to be an independent “lay” member on its Finance and Resources Committee (FRC).

The FRC is a subordinate committee to the RCSLT’s Board of Trustees (the Board).  Its remit covers finance and investments, audit, performance and contracts, risk management, information governance, HR, facilities and heritage matters.  Most of these issues are overseen by specialist groups or by trustees and staff with relevant experience. However a recent reassessment by the FRC members has highlighted that a gap exists on the committee in audit (particularly internal audit) and general external business knowledge which is unlikely to be filled by a speech and language therapist.  The Committee would value the broader input which would be provided by someone with relevant experience external to the organisation.

The selection process is by means of a covering letter stating how you feel you fulfill the requirements of the role, CV and completed skills matrix.  If you are short-listed, there would be a telephone interview with the Chair and another member of the FRC.  The role specification and skills matrix is downloadable and more information about the RCSLT can be found here www.rcslt.org.  Interested candidates are invited to contact the Company Secretary for an informal discussion at brian.gopsill@rcslt.org or phone 0207 378 3007.  The successful applicant’s term of office would run from appointment to the RCSLT’s Annual General Meeting at the end of September/October 2020, with the expectation of a three year term which is renewable annually.

The closing date is 10 November 2017
