Harrison Housing provides high quality housing and support to older people in homely environments throughout London, as well as a range of other services to Almshouse Charities and Small Housing Associations. Housing has been the core activity of Harrison Housing for many decades. Miss Goodwin and three sisters, Elizabeth, Amy and Clara Harrison founded the ‘Homes for the Aged Poor’ which eventually became known as ‘Harrison Homes’.
We aim to provide and maintain high quality housing and support for older people of limited means in London by
Developing the highest standards of accommodation for older people in our community
Creating a friendly and supportive environment, enabling residents to live independently
Providing residents with comfort, respect and stimulation, irrespective of background, creed or colour
Currently, we are in a strong financial position. The charity believes in providing a high level of quality accommodation in a secure environment to all its residents. Harrison Housing has two almshouses providing sheltered accommodation with a total of 67 flats. There are also a further 24 flats that the charity own that are general needs. Major refurbishment work has occurred in the past few years and the service provided by the Charity is much admired.
As we enter into an exciting period of development and growth, we are now seeking a trustee, with expertise in property development or construction – experience in working on social housing development projects would also be advantageous. This is an exciting opportunity to be the resident project development expert on the Board and to advise during the process, negotiate with developers and input into the building design.
