Join the Board of the Institute for Employment Studies to help us influence some of the key decision-makers in government, policy bodies and employer organisations.
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational individual to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Institute for Employment Studies.
You, will bring a fresh perspective to the Board’s work and be prepared to challenge the status quo. You will have and demonstrable interest or expertise in one or more of the Institute’s areas of work (employment policy, HR management or related areas). Additionally, following a review of the skills of existing trustees, we are looking for experience and expertise in one or more of the following:
involvement with a research or consultancy organisation similar to IES;
news, media and marketing;
commercial experience in industry or at a senior level in charitable organisation.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
To contribute to the development of the Institute’s strategy, and to support and monitor its implementation. To act as the guardian of IES’s vision and values and support the Director and senior management team.
To raise the profile of IES.
To ensure that IES complies with all relevant charity legislation and is financially sustainable.
We want a diverse board, with a broad representation of ages, background, perspective, gender and ethnicity.
Trustees must be prepared to attend trustee meetings held in either London or Brighton at least three times a year and have the expertise, time and interest to become closely involved with the Institute’s work and staff.
This role is not remunerated. However reasonable expenses will be paid.
The appointment is for a period of three years with an option to reappoint for a further three years.
