This interactive online session offers an opportunity to ask an experienced portfolio non-executive director your questions about developing and succeeding in a board career.

In an open and informal setting, our guest NED will share candid insights from their own journey—including securing board appointments, building a portfolio, navigating the realities of the role and continuing to add value once appointed.

Participants will help shape the conversation by submitting questions in advance.

Topics may include how to:

• Position yourself for your first or next NED appointment
• Develop your network and engaging with search firms
• Assess whether a board opportunity is right for you
• Prepare for interviews and conducting due diligence
• Manage the practical demands of a portfolio career
• Handle common challenges in the boardroom
• Build credibility and demonstrating your value as a NED

This is a participative session rather than a formal presentation, providing a supportive environment in which Accelerator alumni can seek practical guidance, learn from one another and gain an honest perspective on life as a portfolio NED.

Speaker: 

• Sundeep Bhandari is a seasoned independent NED, whose current board portfolio includes a number of roles within financial services. He typically serves on audit, risk and compliance committees; and is a SID, Vice Chair or Board Chair. Sundeep also serves on the board of a non-profit and is also a Magistrate.
