13.07.2021 – NEDonBoard Online: Public Sector NED Role

July 13 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Insights into the Public Sector NED Role

NEDonBoard is thrilled to welcome two high-profile public appointees on 13th July, Dame Christine Ryan, Ofsted chair and Ofqual board member, and Delroy Beverley, British Library and Ofqual board member for an exceptional session. We will discuss the different types of public appointments, explore some of the specificities of non-executive roles in the public sector and uncover board opportunities that you have yet to consider. Expect lots of insights, recommendations, and tips to be successful in your applications and interviews and effective when you are appointed. Register your attendance at your earliest convenience to secure a place.

Dame Christine Ryan DBE was chief inspector and chief executive of the ISI, which is responsible for inspecting over 1,200 private schools that are members of the Independent Schools Council and private further education colleges on behalf of the Home Office, from 2005 to 2017. She has since served as chair of trustees of TalentEd, an education charity, and as a board member of exams regulator Ofqual. She was reappointed for another three years on Ofqual’s board in July 2020 and is currently chair of Ofsted, the regulator and inspectorate for education, children’s services and skills. Dame Christine Ryan is also a founder of “strategic education partnership” Ryan and Grunsell, along with Jonah Grunsell, which offers independent and impartial strategic and operational expertise across the education system in the UK and worldwide. She was made a Dame in the 2018 new year’s honours list.

Delroy Beverley is Managing Director at York NHS. His current public sector board roles include Ofqual and the British Library. An alumnus of both Oxford and Cambridge Business Schools, he is a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute and a former Institute of Directors Director of the Year for Yorkshire and Humberside. He was named in 2018, one of the UK’s pre-eminent black business leaders. Delroy has also delivered keynote addresses at major conferences and has published articles on topics that include skills shortages within the construction industry, and remains an in demand business speaker at Schools and Universities throughout the UK.
