In this event, we will discuss the responsibilities of the board and non-executive directors with regards to operational resilience and provide actionable take-aways to attendees.
This event is specifically for experienced non-executive directors, board members, chairs and those transitioning to a NED portfolio career. The event is not specific to the financial services industry and we welcome the registrations of professionals from all background.

Justin Elks is Managing Director of the Crowe UK consulting practice and is Crowe’s UK insurance sector and ERM and Operational Resilience lead. He specialises in governance, risk, resilience and capital management, helping business to add value in a regulated environment. Justin has more than 25 years of experience providing designing, delivering, and leading practical, value-adding approaches, operating models, and functions. He has a passion for improving how the governance, processes and cultures of businesses work. Justin was recognised by Insurance ERM magazine as one of the most influential people in Enterprise Risk Management in Insurance across Europe.
Paul Taylor is a Non-Executive Director at Ascot Underwriting Limited, serving as a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees as well as Chair of the Risk Committee.
As an independent expert, he provides risk management, insurance and corporate governance support to organisations in a number of business sectors. He is currently a lay member of the ICAEW’s Investigation Committee and was the Independent Chair of the Business Ethics Committee of Mabey Bridge Limited for a period of 5 years to 2019.
He is a member of the Group of Experts for Working Group 6 (risk in regulation) at the UN Economic Commission for Europe and has contributed to a number of publications.
In his earlier career, Paul was corporate risk manager in four FTSE100 companies, a FTSE250 company and a large private Swiss company. He worked with Boards and Executives to create and deliver risk management and governance strategies.
Paul is a Chartered Engineer; past Chairman of Airmic 2011/12 (UK Risk Managers Association); past Vice-President and Board member of Ferma 2006/11 (European Risk Managers Association); and Voted ”European Risk Manager of the Year “in 2007.
Justin has held a number of senior leadership positions in insurance and financial services, including as Chief Risk Officer. He is an experienced board advisor and attendee. He has also served as a pension scheme trustee and as a non-executive director for not for profit firms and charities, including a period as interim board chairman.
