31.03.2020 London: NEDonBoard – UK government departments: NED introductions and networking

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, this event will now take place in 2 parts:

Tuesdsay 31st March 2020 – Part 1, Online Webinar:

All currently registered attendees (please register below) will be able to access presentations from our speakers and additional bonus content on the topics of public sector NED roles and diversity on 31 March 2020 via webinar.

Presentations will include insights from:

  • the Commissioner for Public Appointments

  • Dr. Yvonne Thompson (portfolio NED and member of the Parker Review Steering Committee)

Bonus content will include insights from public appointees.


Thursday 1st October 2020 – Part 2, Networking:

All currently registered attendees will also have their attendance transferred to the October 1st event. Please see below details of the October 1st event.


An opportunity for the NEDonBoard community interested in NED roles in the public sector to engage with 4 government departments on vacancies and NED opportunities, expand your network and meet with NEDs currently appointed to boards of:

  • the Department for Education

  • the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs 

  • the Ministry of Justice

  • and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

This event promotes diversity and inclusion in UK public boardrooms.

Format: Networking event with keynote speeches

  • 17:30 – Arrivals, registration and informal networking

  • 18:00 – Speeches including from the Permanent Secretary (Jonathan Slater), the  Commissioner for Public Appointments (Rt Hon Peter Riddell CBEand Dr. Yvonne Thompson CBE

  • 18:30 – Facilitated networking

  • 19:30 – Event wrapup

  • 20:00 – Event close

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes, as long as you update the details before the event. There is a security check at the entrance of the building. We need all names before the event, and you will need to bring photo ID with you also.

Can I participate if I am not a NEDonBoard member?

Yes, you can attend events as a non-member. Our events are designed for, and will most benefit experienced non-executive directors, and board members. If you are serious about your non-exec career then we recommend you join NEDonBoard. You need to apply here.
