Join the Board of Theatre Centre

“Theatre Centre… defies clichés” – The Guardian.

Theatre Centre aims to encourage, nurture and galvanise children and young people to express their imaginations, opinions and ambitions through the arts.

We believe all children and young people deserve to experience transformative theatre no matter where they live and no matter their circumstances. We facilitate young people’s leadership and activism through an extensive programme of creative projects and create powerful theatre productions for, with and about young people, which tour nationally into schools and theatres. Theatre Centre has pioneered radical and contemporary theatre for young audiences since 1953, commissioning and nurturing diverse playwrights to invest in stories that are resonant with children and young people and valuing narratives that are relevant to their worlds.

If you share our vision of making transformative arts accessible for all children and young people and agree that more can be done to nurture and celebrate youth voice, we’d love you to consider joining our Board of Trustees.

About Theatre Centre

Theatre Centre empowers young leadership and youth activism through the arts, supporting and transforming young people to change the world by enriching their learning and leadership potential with theatre productions, creative projects and resources. Founded in 1953, we are an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) and a registered charity governed by a Board of Trustees.

In 2015 the company, led by Artistic Director Natalie Wilson, launched a new business plan which aims to build financial and cultural resilience by reimagining our working processes, diversifying our programme and by placing children and young people at the centre of our practice, as makers and audiences. This is a new chapter in the life of a pioneering company and as a Trustee you will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact and help steer Theatre Centre through this exciting next phase.
